Today, I spent the day at Descanso Gardens. We, of course, had our Southern California Haiku Study Group meeting there again today, but this time I arrived when Descanso opened so I could spend more time exploring and walking the gardens beforehand.
Around noon, I met up with a few people for lunch at the Descanso Café and then we had tea in the Japanese Garden. This time I ordered gyorkuro tea, which reminded me a lot of the "blue tea" I taste-tasted at Vital T Leaf in Seattle. It's a green tea that somehow reminds me of the ocean.
I wrote nine haiku during my writing time in the picnic area, entered six in the kukai, where five of them received votes. The one with the most votes, oddly enough, was the one I liked least of the ones entered in the kukai:
