Even the jacaranda trees don't know it...

The end of May is almost here already and even the jacaranda trees don’t realize it yet. My friends who are school teachers seem to be universally buried this weekend with papers to grade, my yard (which I like to have summer BBQ ready by Memorial Day) looks like a bamboo forest, and the Huntington Library apparently still thinks it’s “Boy’s Day” (May 5th).

There are several poetry contest deadlines coming up fast -

The Sword Review, first prize $50, theme hope, no entry fee – May 31st

California State Poetry Contest, first prize $100, entry fee $3 per poem payable to CSPS,

Yuki Teikei Haiku Contest, first prize $100, entry fee $7 for sheet of three haiku

The clock is ticking!
