Japanese Garden Haiku Reading - March 19th, Long Beach, CA

There will be a haiku reading on Sunday, March 19th, 2:00 pm at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden at Cal State Long Beach. The Southern California Haiku Study Group will be reading from their newly released chapbook,Tide and Time.

I have four haiku in this chapbook and will be one of the readers. If you're in the neighborhood, please come!

Directions: From the 405 freeway, take the Bellflower Exit South. Turn left on State University Drive. Turn left on Earl Warren Drive. At the second stop sign, turn right into parking lot 16 Parking is free on Sunday from noon to 4:00 pm.

Klostar Ivanic International Haiku Contest

June 1st is the deadline for the Third International Haiku Contest: Klostar Ivanic 2006, Croatia which is organized by Tourist Community of Klostar Ivanic and haiku poets of the region.

Although Croatian, the contest is for English haiku only, free of charge, for unpublished haiku by persons over 12 years of age only. The first prize is 80 USD, second prize is 60 USD, and third prize is 40 USD.

To enter, send up to five haiku with your name, address, telephone number, profession, age to Djurdjica Vukelic-Rozic at with a subject of "Klostar Ivanic Haiku Contest". Djurdjica Vukelic-Rozic is the editor in chief of the bilingual magazine Haiku, issued by the Association of Croatian Haiku Poets, Zagreb.
