Peggy Castro, a poet from my haiku group, gave local poets here a head's up that her boyfriend, Jack Chansler has a play Murder on the Bounding Main currently playing at the Sierra Madre Playhouse.
So a group of us went with Peggy tonight to see it. It was a lot of fun. For $20, you can sit in a small theatre which holds no more than 99 people, and see a live production of murder mystery, comedy, and 1950's era music.
In addition to writing the script, Jack also stars in the play as Mordecai, a detective on a nightmare of an interrupted honeymoon, where everything from murder to sea sickness seems to interfere with his ability to spend any private time at all with his new bride. Joanna Houghton plays his wife and Rosina Pinchot does a fantastic job as an elderly widow on the cruise.
Murder on the Bounding Main is playing through February 21st.
