My daughter went back to Santa Cruz and the winter quarter starts Tuesday. The local haiku group had its annual post-holiday party, my last holiday party of the season. The mailman is no longer bringing Christmas and New Years greetings from family and friends.
Most of the Rose Parade trash has been swept off Colorado Boulevard. My son ate the last Christmas cookie.
But as I look back over this holiday season, I feel content. Despite the economy and personal cutbacks in Christmas spending, somehow the spirit of the holidays came through even better. I spent time with family and friends. We had some great meals together, shared laughter and joy. This makes me happy.
