Egrets Reading

Of beach houses and robin eggs . . .

The March NaHaiWriMo prompts all start with the letter "O". So far, I haven't been stumped. It's interesting how some prompts draw out memories and others just sit there and do nothing.

The March 3rd prompt was "occasion" which reminded me of my mother's birthday in May a year ago where my sister, my mother, and I rented a beach house in Oceanside for a few days. It was glorious, listening to the sound of the surf all night long, waking up to breakfast watching the waves from the kitchen and living room, or sitting on the balcony to eat. I wish we could do it every year!

The March 4th prompt was "odd". I came up with a haiku out of my background in Mathematics. Unfortunately, I've chosen not to post it here. Haiku journals have varied requirements as to what is defined as "previously published." Some do not count blogs, facebook and twitter posts/tweets as previously published. Some do not count facebook or twitter, but count blogs. Others only exclude facebook "groups." Anyway, I want to try my "odd" haiku at a place that doesn't accept haiku that has been posted on blogs.

The March 5th prompt was "oeuf" which apparently means "egg" in French, as well as "love" in tennis.

This nest and these eggs were so many years ago that it feels like I dreamed it.
