Magnapoets

The mail carrier delivered my contributor's copy of Magnapoets, which contains my poem "The Desperation of Walnuts" which I wrote at a Saturday Afternoon Poetry workshop some time past.

It was inspired, in part, by my son Kirk's sixth birthday party. I had arranged the table for the cake out under the lovely walnut tree we had in our yard, only to see small green flecks from the outer shell of the walnut start falling on the tree like confetti, courtesy of the squirrels who also loved that tree.

Needless to say, that was the last year the birthday cake was placed in that particular location in the yard.

Magnapoets is an interesting mix of Western poetry and Japanese forms. There are ten pages of free verse and Western forms, thirteen pages of haiku and tanka, and eight pages of essays and short stories. All pages are 8 x 11 1/2.
