There's something really amazing about poetry and other arts when paired together, complimenting each other. One of my favorite parts of the HSA Seattle Weekend was the performance by Duo En, combining haiku with koto/shakuhachi music.

And, I've long admired my friend naia's ability to combine her watercolor paintings with her haiku.

On Saturday, after tending to some SFPA matters that needed my attention, I visited the James Gray Gallery at the Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica. I had never been to the Bergamot Station before and it turned out to be a very fun place.

It was originally a stop for the Red Line trolley which once upon a time ran from the Santa Monica Pier to Union Station. It sits on eight acres of land and contains contemporary art galleries, the Santa Monica Museum of Art, architecture and design firms, and a cafe. I think it would be a neat place to host a poetry workshop.
