Last night Chrystine Julian was one of the features for Monday Night Poetry. Of course she brought a drum and a shaker and some Tibetan singing bowls.

Here is a link to Chrystine reading The Dragon, one of her signature pieces:

Mary Frances Spencer, the other feature, also brought a Tibetan singing bowl which she used for an anti-war poem about monks which she chanted for us.

I was the "lucky" open reader lined up to follow the features and I decided to read Cowboys and Indians, the haibun I just sold to Scifaikuest. Before I read it, I made the comment that I wished I had some Native American drumming going on in the background and Chrystine said, "I can improvise!" So, we did it that way and it was a lot of fun.

It's funny how a little percussion can really add to a poetry reading.
