David Lunde wins PEN USA translating award

I found out through time_shark's blog that Peter Payack was not the only SFPA member/Rhysling winner to win a big honor in the last week.

David Lunde has won the PEN USA Translation Award together with Professor Mary Y.M. Fung for their work in translating “The Carving of Insects,” a book of poetry by Chinese poet Bian Zhilin.

Lunde and the other 2007 winners received a $1000 cash prize and were honored at a banquet in Beverly Hills on November 6th.

Lunde won the 1992 Short Poem Rhysling for “Song of the Martian Cricket” and the 1995 Long Poem Rhysling for “Pilot, Pilot.” A member of the Science Fiction Poetry Association, he has published eight books of poetry and his poems, stories, and translations have appeared internationally in more than 230 periodicals and 40 anthologies.
