Peter Payack - first Poet Populist of Cambridge, MA

The city of Cambridge, MA has announced its first Poet Populist and it
is none other than SFPA member Peter Payack! He will receive a $1000 stipend for the one year post.

Besides winning the 1980 Rhysling Award, having a one line poem in the most recent Dwarf Stars, and publishing poems in places like Asimov's SF and Rolling Stone, his creativity shows up in some extremely interesting places - his poem, "No Free Will in Tomatoes," for example, was sandblasted onto the floor of the Davis T-Station. He also invented "star poems," for an Illuminated Word event in Cambridge, where poems from Cambridge poets and children were flashed from an illuminated message board on the underbelly of a plane circling the city.
