Seinan Jo Gakuin University "Autumn Trees" Haiku Contest

Seinan Jo Gakuin University, Fukuoka International Exchange Foundation (FIEF), and The Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT) are sponsoring a haiku contest in conjuction with an international haiku workshop. Asahi Haikuist Network columnist, David McMurray, will be the judge and will announce the winners during his lecture, "Poems for Mother Earth" to be given October 14th from 1 to 3 p.m. at the International Village Center in Kita-Kyushu, Japan.

The deadline is September 26, 2007. Poets can submit up to 3 haiku composed in English by postcard marked "Seinan Jo Haiku Contest" on the theme of "Autumn Trees" with name and address to:

Prizes include haiku books, international gifts, and award certificates. The nine winning entries will be published in October issues of the Asahi Haikuist Network and will be available on the Internet for one year at the Asahi website.
