Egrets Reading

Can you OD on Shakespeare?

One would think I'd have satisfied my Shakespeare itch for the summer. Last week, I saw three live performances - Midsummer's Night Dream by Shakespeare LA at the South Coast Botanical Garden, A Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare by the Sea at Verdugo Park, and Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare Santa Cruz in the Festival Glen on the UC Santa Cruz campus.

Three Shakespeare plays in a single week should be enough for anyone.

But, my son, knowing that I'm getting closer to satisfying the "see every Shakespeare play in a live performance" item on my life to-do list, told me about a free Richard II produced by Independent Shakespeare at Barnsdall Park in Hollywood.

Since I'm mostly lacking history plays, we're going tonight. Besides, I do like my Shakespeare.

I might be an addict.
