Egrets Reading

May Sky, There is Always Tomorrow

I finally managed to obtain a copy of May Sky, There is Always Tomorrow, an anthology of Japanese American Concentration Camp Kaiko Haiku which was compiled, translated and prefaced by Violet Kazue de Cristoforo.

The title is taken from a haiku written by Neiji Ozawa when he was in the Gila Indian reservation sanatorium:

From the window of despair
May sky
There is always tomorrow

--Neiji Ozawa

This made me start crying.
