Egrets Reading

A Chaos of Angels

Yesterday evening at Monday Night Poetry, a group of six contributors to A Chaos of Angels did an anthology poetry reading. The book, edited by Lois P Jones and Alice Pero (who were both there), addresses psychiatric drugs and their effects on society.

Other contributors present included Annie Reiner, Russell Salamon, Leslie Silton, and TomM Hall. Don Kingfisher Campbell's son Jonathon also contributed to the anthology and Don read the poem by his son who lives on the East Coast.

The quality of the poetry was incredible and I enjoyed every single one of the readers. In addition to the anthology poems, most of the poets also read a selection of their work. I was pleasantly surprised when three of the poets read poems I consider speculative - Reiner, Pero, and Silton.

It was a beautiful evening of poetry. I participated in the open reading by reciting a string of about a dozen haiku. This was the first time I've ever read haiku by itself without softening it between longer poems at a general poetry reading. Surprisingly, it seemed to work. I just let haiku flow randomly out of my memory as a sort of stream of consciousness performance which seemed well-received.

A Chaos of Angels can be purchased for $16.00 plus postage here.
