Egrets Reading

Autumn Birdsong

As a plane containing loved ones sits on the runway, others land. There's something about an airport that excites me. People moan and groan about the hassle of going to LAX but frankly, I enjoy the place. I always have.

I guess I've never really outgrown my childhood joy of watching planes take off and land. However, in the current political climate, airports have become less of a meeting place and more of a transit point.

Fortunately, my favorite plane viewing spot is still accessible.

The plane waiting to take off in the above photo was my daughter's flight back to San Jose. After, I kissed her goodbye at the security checkpoint, I left the airport and drove over to a place I could watch her plane disappear into a gray October sky.

This weekend went too fast.
