Egrets Reading

Saturday Poetry Update

According to my author tools page, it appears that my poem, “The Launch of Red Spot, Jr.” has been accepted for The Sword Review.

I haven’t received the official notification yet so I hope it’s not bad luck to post this!

My haiku presentation at the McGroarty Chapter of the California Federation of Chaparral Poets went well. The turn out was a small group of dedicated poets who ended up writing some nice haiku at the end of my little workshop. I challenged them to write haiku for the following kigo: pumpkin(s) and autumn wind

Here’s one I wrote during the meeting:

pumpkin pie
my mother tells me
it’s sugarless

I also managed to sell a copy of The New Resonance 4: Emerging Voices in English Language Haiku, a copy of Seaside Moon, a copy of unfinished book, two extra copies I had of Joyce Odam's July 2006 issue of Brevities, a copy of Linda Galloway's Hummingbird Island saijiki of the Elkhourn Slough, and two of my advance copies of Dwarf Stars 2006 (which hopefully will be mailed to SFPA members this coming weekend).

All in all, it was a pretty successful day for my various poetry projects!
