Egrets Reading

Hammerhorn Lake

What happens when three haiku poets go camping together on a long weekend?

They write something like Hammerhorn Lake, which in addition to the title poem, is a chapbook of eight rengay written by Garry Gay, John Thompson, and Michael Dylan Welch over the Labor Day Weekend in 1994. Hammerhorn Lake is in the Yolla Bolly Wilderness of Northern California.

Because I've been interested in rengay for a couple of years, when this came up at the Modern Haiku fundraiser book sale, I had to have it!

Today, it arrived in the mail. I only have one question. Does anyone else besides me think it would be fun to go poetry camping for three days in some very scenic place? If so, when do you want to go?
