Egrets Reading

Asahi Haikuist Network

Tonight, I clicked over to the Asahi Haikuist Network, David McMurray's feature in English at the Asahi Shimbun in Toyko, to read a haiku by Natalia L. Rudychev which she said was published there.

I then discovered he had written me and the local haiku group into his narrative at the bottom of the page. Facts were garbled a bit - the poetry reading we had with Amy Uyematsu somehow was transformed into a "poetry competition" but it's always fun to read David's "From the Notebook" section because he weaves a story out of the thoughts of varied haiku poets all over the world and different eras.

He included my haiku from the poetry reading:

row of pelicans
on the anchor line
a poet's audience

One of my favorite haiku in his narrative was the one by Mototaka Yamakawa about Pluto.
