Egrets Reading

Dodge and Asilomar

Lisa Janice Cohen, my partner in Amaze is taking a four day vacation from her life to immerse herself in poetry. She’s one of the lucky poets attending The Geraldine R Dodge Poetry Festival this year in Waterloo Village, Stanhope, New Jersey.

Lisa writes about it on her blog and oh, how I wish I was there with her!

Tonight, Linda Galloway called me from Asilomar where the Yuki Teikei Society is holding its annual four day haiku retreat. Unlike Dodge, with its expected crowd of 20,000, the Asilomar haiku retreat is limited due to space to 24 poets. Four of them are from my local haiku group and I was expecting to be able to attend with them except that I have a conflict with a work commitment tomorrow and Saturday.

Dodge or Asilomar? Both sound so poetically nourishing to me right now. It’s too bad I’m fated to miss both this year.
