Egrets Reading

Haiku Distractions

Today, I completely played hooky from everything I planned to do and just sat in the backyard and read, listening to the sound of my renovated backyard fountain. I saw several blue damselflies, a western tiger swallowtail, several monarch butterflies, and a group of hummingbirds all while enjoying the goldfish in my pond.

the chores
I meant to do today--

I read through my long-lost issue of Frogpond and started thinking of more ideas for haibun.

I also found out that Stanford Forrester has accepted a haiku for bottle rockets #16
and that Jason Sanford Brown and Scott Metz have accepted three haiku for the November 2006 issue of Roadrunner Haiku.
