Egrets Reading

Old Soldiers Fading Away

Appropriately enough for the first postal delivery day after Memorial Day, I received my copy of John J Dunphy's haiku chapbook, Old Soldiers Fading Away, which was recently published by Pudding House.

It's a sobering tribute to veterans and those affected by war and I'd highly recommend it. Many of these haiku, haiku sequences, and haibun were first published in places like Modern Haiku, Acorn, Frogpond, and RAW NerVZ.

Patricia Prime recently reviewed this chapbook on Gerald England's New Hope International Review website. Click here for the review. I would agree with her assessment of Dunphy's work here.

My favorite piece is a haiku sequence called "Return to the Wall," which John has allowed me to post in its entirety Collapse )

Autographed copies can be ordered for $7.00, checks written to John Dunphy, from The Second Reading Book Shop,16 E Broadway,Alton, IL 62002
