Egrets Reading

DaVinci Code

Tonight, I decided to go see The DaVinci Code after all. I read the book a few years ago and thought it was fun read, so I'd been looking forward to the movie until I started reading reviews that made me wonder if I should wait for video.

I'm glad I didn't wait.

As to all of the so-called controversy... *yawn*

A work of fiction doesn't have much to add to a discussion on religion IMO so I'm not sure why people on both sides of the issue think it does.

As for Mary Magdalene, the only thing I really want to say on the subject is that there's no evidence to support the idea that she was a prostitute until Pope Gregory centuries later declared her to be one. Casting her in the role of a wife is only marginally better because it's still saying that the only thing worth noting about a woman is whether she's a prostitute, a virgin, or a wife. What's wrong with simply seeing "St Mary Magdalene, the Apostle" as...an apostle?
