Egrets Reading

Alum Park

Today, Wendy and I spent the morning hiking in Alum Park in San Jose. I enjoy hiking in the spring when there are wildflowers blooming. Some of the varieties of wildflowers were the same as those found on trails in my usual local mountain haunts in Angeles National Forest. However, some were completely unknown to us.

The trail was short but it took us from a streamside path through green rolling hills up to “Eagle’s Rock,” which overlooked the Silicon Valley and the bottom edge of the San Francisco Bay. Birds of prey circled around us up there on our perch, but unfortunately, they weren’t eagles, they were turkey vultures.
