CFCP, Inc Convention Theme Poem Winner!

In the wee hours of the morning, I found out that my poem, "Chaparral Song," won as the theme poem for the California Federation of Chaparral Poets, Inc. annual convention, upcoming in Fresno in April!

The theme is "Winds of the Chaparral," and I admittedly targeted the poem to the theme as I wrote it, but I really wasn't expecting to win.

As a footnote, my cinquain, "Communion," which I wrote for Mozart's birthday, placed 3rd in the "Short Poem," category.

Here is a list of winners.

The CFCP convention takes place April 21st-23rd, costs $30 to attend, and is being run in a "writer's conference" format. It includes three sessions led by California Poet Laureate, Al Young. Here is a link to more information.
