Egrets Reading

Fiesta time

This weekend is the annual Fiesta at the church (and the adjoining elementary school my kids attended). It's always fun to drop by to get a chance to see people that have moved away or whatever because everyone who ever went there at some time seems to come back and make an appearance sometime over the weekend.

The kids amazed me more than usual this year. Little kids who really should be in diapers were walking around looking like teenagers and, in fact, were teenagers. I think it's the fact that this is the first year that I didn't need to buy ride tickets really hit home. Kirk and Sean met me down there for the deep-pit BBQ dinner and we ran into Monsignor Norm, our former pastor, who's now over on the westside. He asked where Yvette was and I said she was at UC Santa Cruz, and he said, "Yvette? Little Yvette? Isn't she in about the 5th grade?" and we both laughed.

One girl who was in Kirk's class is actually TEACHING at Holy Angels now.
