Egrets Reading

Online or Off?

Six of my haiku just went online at Canadian Zen Haiku canadien:

This is the last online issue of CZH – from now on, it will become a print journal, another loss to the haiku online community. (I'm still lamenting the loss of the online Haijinx)

Although I’ve often said that I prefer holding a book in my hand versus reading online, I’m not sure that a print CZH will be the wonderful improvement its editor thinks it will be.

Frankly, I subscribe to more poetry print journals than I really should already and there simply isn’t room in my budget for one more right now.

Over the years, I’ve become fond of online poetry journals to the point that I almost prefer them over their print counterparts. And, as a poet, when my work is published online, I know that the reading audience is larger than it would be in an obscure print journal with 25 subscribers.

And better yet, I can link to it like I did above so that my friends can read my poems!
