Also, Larylee Fraser, a friend from Haiku Hut, has just put together Ripples, an online anthology and included my "pulsing sea jellies" haiku from Modern Haiku.
Speaking of pulsing sea jellies, last night I was talking to a foreign exchange student from Japan at a party and somehow the subject turned to haiku. She was fascinated at the idea I was writing haiku and English and asked to hear one. I recited "pulsing sea jellies," thinking that it was one of my best, not being perceptive enough to realize that it probably wasn't a good example to give a person who is just beginning to feel comfortable conversing in English.
So, I attempted to act out the haiku - moving the hands up and down for "pulsing," trying to mimic a jellyfish underwater, and trying to explain "mute." Eventually, though she "got it" and I must say that the smile on her face was worth all my inane attempts to act out this poem.
